So I may work for a station that does not play much hip hop, but I always count it as one of my favorite genres. That said, one of my all time favorite artists/mc's is Guru. He is a genius. I once made a drive from Wilmington, NC to DC just to see him perform with Gangstarr, and it was worth every mile. One of my interns was listening to the station and fell in love with Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble". It made me happy hearing that, because I forgot how powerful it was when I first heard that album. We listened to it over and over, and even drove from Wilmington NC to Cary NC just to see him perform it live. So, I love hip hop. I don't always love some of the hip hop I hear these days, mainly because I think the influence has gotten pretty narrow.
